Johnson, who won one gold and three silver medals at the 2008 Olympic Games, was the voters’s choice over fellow Olympic gold medalist Nastia Liukin, race car driver Danica Patrick, Olympic volleyball gold medalists Kerri Walsh and Misty May Treanor and tennis star Serena Williams.

Johnson, was also nominated for the Choice Female Reality/Variety Star category for her winning turn on ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars.”

In 2008, Johnson won the Teen Choice Award for Best Female Athlete but was unable to accept the award in person because she was in Beijing for the Olympic Games. This year, she not only picked up the award in person, she presented one as well.
