Olympic gold medalist and West Des Moines native Shawn Johnson will spend Father’s Day at the Iowa Speedway for the Iowa Corn Indy 250 on June 21.

She will be on the pre-race stage where fans can see he. “She will watch the race from one of the suites from the VIP building,” said Mike Beecher, director of media relations at the Iowa Speedway.

Johnson will arrive Sunday morning and leave the Speedway Sunday afternoon.

More races involving potential autograph sessions with Johnson are in the works. “We are planning future races where she (Johnson) will be more accessible to fans,” Beecher said.
